Week 9: May 25-29

Tuesday, May 26 So sorry...this week and last have been so nuts.  Lots of behaviors to deal with, from both boys.  Trying medication for Adrian, but it's not yet strong enough to really have a positive effect.  Anxiety through the roof.  The you-know-what is hitting the fan. We have done bare minimum in terms of homework: project and math.  I've even become a scribe for the first few problems to get Seb going....once he sees he can do it, he'll take the pencil.  I'm enabling...but I am more focused on him just getting the content at this point.  :-(  Haven't done Lexia, mid-day silent reading...We do continue to do math facts at night and read at night.  I do hope we can get it back, but right now nothing productive was coming out of my forcing it.  Sorry--I tried.  I really did! Ramadan art (Seb did the one on the bottom left; Adrian bottom right...I did the top ones to get them interested.  They were refusing...) ...

Week 8: May 18-22

Monday, May 18 Only 15 today.  Sigh.  When he focuses, he's so much faster.  He was day dreaming...then fighting...then distracted...I had to start the clock twice because he stopped before he even started. And apparently he thinks 5+3=18.  But that was after 60 sec was up. Ok, I told him NO to gorillas, but eventually let him choose Bison.  He had about 5 different animals in mind and kept switching.  We tried to do a "golden eagle" like the one on the flag of Mexico.  When I finally let him try to find info on that (to prove a point of how hard it would be to find info), he believed me that he might want to choose a different animal.  We were trying to get him to do camel LOL, but bison it is.  He knows a lot about bison, but not everything.  I also thought--if ok with you--we might focus a little on the history at the same time.  Given we're reading Little House it seems to go with the territory, pun intended. We started...

Week 7 May 11-May 15

Monday, May 11 This weekend, a friend/colleague of mine gave us some 24" bikes.  The one for Adrian, unfortunately, is still a bit too big.  But Seb's fits great.  He LOVES it.  We love to go bike riding at Stonehill or Wompatuck...hoping we can get some good riding in this summer.  Seb's "journal" entry today was to write a thank you note to my friend. And here he is...it's a great bike!!!!! His opinion piece, in case you can't read that amazing writing and see in my amazing picture, is supposedly going to be about why everyone should learn another language. I have to admit I'm freaked out about his math still. I know the report card is based on up to March, but B on a lot of his math...yikes.  I don't know what is wrong with his math processing.  I simply don't understand why his memory is a trap for useless facts, wrestler heights, etc. but he CANNOT remember or memorize an addition or subtraction fact.  It just does NOT con...
